This post is slightly different because it details our stay at Meadowbank, Ambleside.
Meadowbank, Ambleside is a local family-run English country house with a host named Michael, who is the owner and also a fire-fighter of the town. It has 5-6 rooms with full English settings including the living and dining hall. Different room comes with different view. Some rooms are bigger than others and the most spectacular one is the small room facing the field with hundreds of sheep. You can literally count sheep to sleep in the summer. Clean, bracing air and so close to nature, it is truly a recommendation.
Besides, Michael and his wife serve super delicious home-cooked full English breakfast. Cooking ingredients i.e. hash brown, sausages, ham, bacon including the cereals are all local products with self-baked bread. Everything was cooked to perfection and what an incredible pleasant start of the day.
I would best describe this as a home-stay experience because we are impressed with the friendliness and hospitality of Michael. He opens his door for tourists while his children are all grown-up and living away from home and yet preserving the feel of home to tourist-strangers like us. Thank you Meadowbank and this experience deserves a post as part of our travel experiences.
